Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Every child is different and has their own story. When a child does not seem like themselves, is in crisis or may be a danger to others or themselves, there’s no time to waste. They need help from well trained professionals.

At CHA, we want children and their families to have the best chance of success. As a Harvard Teaching Hospital, our team provides caring support for a wide range of mental health needs.

Your Care at its Best

Building on Their Strengths

To help children, we need to understand them and their environment. We try to address their immediate needs while uncovering the underlying causes. This includes identifying where they shine with skills, talents and abilities. Our goal is to give children and their families the best chance at success when they leave our care.

Special Care for Teens

Teenagers are presented with many new challenges. These can be hard for anyone to manage.

Each CHA Teen Health Center (in Cambridge, Everett and Somerville) provides safe, age-appropriate mental health services for students in those schools and teens in the community. CHA clinicians work with students, faculty and families to support health by providing consults, medication management and therapy.

CHA also has an adolescent assessment unit (AAU) for teenagers with acute or severe mental health needs.
