Trust Your Gut. Choose CHA.
Problems with your stomach, bowels and the rest of your digestive system can be uncomfortable and unpleasant. The Gastroenterology (GI) team can help. Our experts diagnose and help treat common and complex digestive issues in patients 16 and older, often without the need for surgery.
CHA performs a wide range of tests and procedures to maintain or restore your health. This includes endoscopy to see into your throat and stomach and colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer.
When you choose CHA for GI care, you will find a caring team that listens to your concerns, keeps you informed, and makes sure you feel comfortable at every step.
Your Care at its Best
Advanced Tools and Technology
CHA doctors use state-of-the-art methods to diagnose your problem and detect any health issues. These include minimally invasive imaging techniques to see inside your body using a tiny camera. We also use an advanced technique called Virtual Chromo (Capsule) Endoscopy, which uses a tiny wireless camera to take pictures of your digestive tract. These methods are the same as used at Boston’s leading teaching hospitals, but available to you in a smaller, more personal setting.
Colon Cancer Screenings
Colorectal cancer is a major health risk for middle age and older adults – but it is often preventable. Regular screenings can find polyps before they become cancer. At CHA, we do colon cancer screenings in both Somerville and Everett.
There are several different colon cancer screening tests. The most common is a colonoscopy.
Screenings often start at age 45 or age 50, depending on your age, background and family history. Please talk to your primary care team about the pros and cons of each screening test and how often you should be tested.
